August Course Begins...

So! I've been stupid busy and wish I had something entertaining to post, but I have to get ready to go out for a stagette tonight - dinner and comedy at the Giggle Dam theatre! Should be fun and funny! I will take pictures! Then the fun continues with her shower tomorrow! Had my first class of Directed Studies today and am SUPERly DUPERly excited to get started on it. The project is an Architectural firm's office and living space above. Its going to be very intense fitting it into a month - normally people do it in a 12 week layout. But anyways I will try to update the blog if I have time and if there are things I think all you can help with and give me opinions on! By Tuesday I need to have a concept for the space. Something that is going to make the design flow smoothly and makes decisions easier for the layout/esthetic/colours and everything else involved. As an example, past concepts I've used in space planning: -Cave/cavernous -Castle/Magestic -50's -Factory I was thinking possibly global or sort of 'Heritage' symbols and patterns... but I'm not sure how easy that would be to incorporate into the whole layout etc. Maybe round...globe ....

Post Edit: I had an idea - tell me if I should stick with it! "Robin's nest" - and here is why - could be all neutrals, lots of nature motifs, but pops of robin's egg blue. The Architecture plays a part because a nest is quite a construction. The rounded/dome shape found in the eggs and the nest could be used in different ways such as reception area.... I have a vision in my head....PAINT TO THE RESCUE!!!

Ok, so, obviously, a veeeery vague interpretation of what's in my head. But you see where I'm going with the dome thing. I feel like going to school right now and getting on photoshop to get a logo in gear! Logo on the back wall there... or front of desk... or something different altogether...
And see, this is how a concept works. Now when I wonder where their logo should go, I think, well, if this was a Robin's nest, the "Welcome to the Robin Family" sign would be.... (nowhere, but, pretend with me here) maybe....nailed onto the tree? Maybe a post should be coming out of the wall or simply a bare beam from the ceiling to which a sign could be sort of half-hazardly-looking nailed to it.... see how important concept is?! It gets the project moving in A direction instead of 1000 which is what my head would do otherwise. Comment please!

Okay so I am blabbering.

I am kinda glad the project is an Architect's office because the last semester's classes got a car dealership! Blech! So since I have worked in an Architectural firm which was a PERFECT example of what NOT to do (oh, it was bad...) I think I can handle it. I just have to make QUICK decisions, trust my instincts and move forward fast or else I'll be scrambling like a crazy woman on the 3rd week...

Send me some creative vibes!

header to bed...er

So my mom pointed out that my header had everyday spelt everday - how blind have I been since it's been there (forever) !?
So it will be this for now...
I wonder how many of you cheeky sneaky monkeys noticed it without mentioning. Boy I feel dumb.

Anyways Dad is here visiting for a few days and I have to relax *ack!* and go to the beach *gasp!* and go sailing *eep!* and hang around Quadra Island and the like. . .

I will update upon my return! Have a happy, calm and restful week!

Boys House

We had a nice evening there last night, a barbeque and then just watching them groove. I had fun playing with my camera...Dont these just give such a vibe of being at "The Boy's" house??

This guy is an excellent guitar player. He recorded an album and he writes songs that are quite impressive. And he was very good at being photographed with no complaining!

The others, well, they just didn't know they were being photographed...

Makin' something!

So, I will be making SOMETHING for the following people:
  • Laura and/or Leif ... if you guys can both make things for 5 people on your blog, so a total of 10, then you can each get something from me - come on, you can do it!!!
  • Susie ... because I'm cheap re the shipping I must think of something extra spicy but also flat. Like me! :P But my mom made me, so that wouldn't work... I'll think of somethin!
  • Molly ... yes I can send you something but please please please start a blog!
  • Zoe ... can I get on your list too!?

I'm excited about this and I have next week mostly off, which means YAY!

email me your address to aylamae33@msn.com

and there is still room for 1 more willing candidate IF Leif and/or Laura drop out! :P (I can totally see Leif making something cool like old airplane parts glued together to look like cars and tractors....hey!? challenge your wife. I dare you.)

Beautiful day

Want to Play?

I stumbled accross a blog offering this unique give away, and I want to play. I copied this from her last post. Do I have five readers?.. soon I shall see!

Here's how it works. The first five people to leave a comment on this post will get something from me.But in return, you have to do the same thing on your blog and make something for five other people. The details are as follows, and if you want to play, copy the following onto your blog and leave me a comment:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. Whatcha get is whatcha get.
2. What I create will be just for you, with love.
3. It’ll be done this year (2009).
4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be.It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber. It may be weird or beautiful.Or it may be monstrous and annoying. Heck, I might bake something for you and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure!
5. I reserve the right to do something strange.
6. In return, all you need to do is post this text on your blog and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to your blog post.
7. Send your mailing address - after I contact you.

Okay get busy and leave me some comments so I can get busy making you something!!!
